Caffeine is really a drug. Caffeine is known medically as trimethylxanthine, and the chemical formula is C8H10N4O2. Around 90% of Americans consume caffeine everyday. More than 50% of American adults consume more than 300 mg of caffeine a day, making it the drug of choice for America. It would take about 7,000 mg of caffeine or 70 cups of caffeine to kill a person that weighed about 50 lbs. and it would take 15,000 mg of caffeine or 150 cups of coffee to kill a person who weighed about 180 lbs.
