Going Public

A key part of designing an infographic is considering who is going to be reading it. SLI originally partnered with SciJourner to review and publish student-created content. SciJourner is no longer accepting submissions for publication, but there are many ways to find an audience for your work.

Local Audience

School Newspaper

Ask your school newspaper if they would consider a special issue or section devoted to science infographics.

Class Blog/Social Media Account

Create a class blog (wordpress.com), instagram, or twitter account to distribute the work, or create a hashtag for students to use when uploading work to their own social media account.

Gallery Walk

Print out infographics and host a “gallery walk” in your school, or ask to display them for a PTO meeting, Science Fair, or Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Local Newspapers

Ask local publications if they would consider running infographics as a special section or in the “Letter to the Editors” section of the paper. This Wikipedia article lists local and national newspapers in the United States and beyond. In addition, your school or community librarian can help you to identify a list of local newspapers that might be willing to publish your work.
